Self awareness can be defined as knowing yourself as you really are. Three skills I would like to have would be: first: lean into your discomfort
- the biggest obstacle to increasing self awareness is avoiding discomfort of seeing yourself as you really are
- don't avoid or ignore feelings, move toward and through them
- apologies can seem whimpy or hard to do but are necessary
I need to learn this because I never step out of my comfort zone, and I usually stay in a corner, quiet without any friends because I get shy and nervous. This could help me open up more and give me more opportunities to make friends.
The second skill I need to learn would be: know who and what pushes your buttons
- knowing what pushes our buttons helps us take control of the situation and calm down
- pinpoint the exact triggers (certain people, environments)
- discovering the source of your buttons opens the door to manage your triggers
I need this because I have a short fuse and it doesn't end good. I need to learn this to keep me out of trouble and relax when something that pushes my buttons does happen.
Finally, The last skill I need is: seek feedback
- the lens you see yourself with may not give you a true picture of yourself
- the only way to get a secondary perspective is through someone else
- open yourself up to feedback from others
- get specific examples and situations so you can find similarities of how you are
I usually stick to my own opinion and I'm not always right. I might not like the other persons opinion on the matter but it would make me think about it more and what I want to do about it. I don't think of myself that I am as great as I really am. I'm really negative about myself and others opinions do matter to me.

Emotional management
Our IQ, EQ and personality makes up a person. Our personality is a combination of our qualities that make up our distinctive character. Our IQ stands for intelligence quotient; our EQ stands for emotional quotient. We are typically controlled by our emotions and are not skilled at using them to our benefit, but our EQ can be improved.
It is important for a leader to learn how to manage their EQ because it has a ripple effect. If a team leader goes off on another player, it causes negative feelings in the other players. They may have negative thoughts or even avoid them! Without this, we cannot be a good leader, people will only fear us or have no respect for us.
