Self awareness

Self awareness can be defined as knowing yourself as you really are. Three skills I would like to have would be: first: lean into your discomfort
- the biggest obstacle to increasing self awareness is avoiding discomfort of seeing yourself as you really are
- don't avoid or ignore feelings, move toward and through them
- apologies can seem whimpy or hard to do but are necessary
I need to learn this because I never step out of my comfort zone, and I usually stay in a corner, quiet without any friends because I get shy and nervous. This could help me open up more and give me more opportunities to make friends.
The second skill I need to learn would be: know who and what pushes your buttons
- knowing what pushes our buttons helps us take control of the situation and calm down
- pinpoint the exact triggers (certain people, environments)
- discovering the source of your buttons opens the door to manage your triggers
I need this because I have a short fuse and it doesn't end good. I need to learn this to keep me out of trouble and relax when something that pushes my buttons does happen.
Finally, The last skill I need is: seek feedback
- the lens you see yourself with may not give you a true picture of yourself
- the only way to get a secondary perspective is through someone else
- open yourself up to feedback from others
- get specific examples and situations so you can find similarities of how you are
I usually stick to my own opinion and I'm not always right. I might not like the other persons opinion on the matter but it would make me think about it more and what I want to do about it. I don't think of myself that I am as great as I really am. I'm really negative about myself and others opinions do matter to me.

Emotional management

Our IQ, EQ and personality makes up a person. Our personality is a combination of our qualities that make up our distinctive character. Our IQ stands for intelligence quotient; our EQ stands for emotional quotient. We are typically controlled by our emotions and are not skilled at using them to our benefit, but our EQ can be improved.

It is important for a leader to learn how to manage their EQ because it has a ripple effect. If a team leader goes off on another player, it causes negative feelings in the other players. They may have negative thoughts or even avoid them! Without this, we cannot be a good leader, people will only fear us or have no respect for us.

High school drop outs

In leadership, we recently did a PSA which is basically a slides how or video about raising awareness to a problem. We did ours about high school drop outs. High school drop outs is one of the more common problems that are overlooked. People figure they'll just live off of working in fast food places or live with their parents all their lives. That won't work out because now even McDonald's is asking for a high school diploma. Your parents need to save money for retirement, they can't spend it on you. It's an easy way out and honestly we shouldn't even have the option. Teen pregnancy is also a major cause of this. It affects you negatively even if you think it doesn't. Your future depends on your education.

Personality types

In leadership we learned about 4 personality types: sanguine, choleric, melancholy, and phlegmatic.

Sanguine – emotional and demonstrative, the Sanguine is the life of the party and is all about having fun. They make work into fun, and they love to be with people. They see excitement in each experience and are outgoing and optimistic. They love colors, are dramatic and prone to exaggeration, and are great on stage, thriving with an audience. They love touching and hugging people. You will laugh and laugh with a Sanguine. They breathe life into you. The Sanguine is like Tigger in the Winnie the Pooh stories – happy, bouncy, often loud, talkative, great storyteller, lots of fun.

Choleric – dynamic born leader, dreamer of the impossible dream, always aiming, reaching, succeeding. The Choleric is over achieving and everything will be fine as long as you obey her rule: “Do it my way NOW!” She is outgoing and optimistic, but has little need for friends (socializing wastes time and doesn’t get things done). She believes everything will be fine as long as you do it with her in charge. She gets more done than the other temperaments and you know where you stand with her. She rises to the top, is goal-oriented, and has innate leadership abilities. The Choleric is like Rabbit in the Winnie the Pooh stories.

Melancholy – deep, sensitive, organized, detailed, lover of lists. The Melancholy is quiet, undemanding, and likes to be alone. He follows schedules right from the beginning and will not adapt well to having his routine upset. They are neat, tidy, and perfectionistic. They are frugal and have deep compassion for others. The Melancholy is creative, introspective, and analytical. Without Melancholies we’d have few artists, writers, philosophers, and composers of music. The Melancholy is like Eeyore in the Winnie the Pooh stories.

Phlegmatic – buffers for all the other personalities to bring stability and balance. The Phlegmatic is peaceful and the great leveler in life. He says, “It really doesn’t matter that much” – and it usually doesn’t matter! The Phlegmatic is content, easy-going, not pushy, balanced, on an even keel, doesn’t easily offend, and quietly does what is expected of him. “Whatever” seems to be the Phlegmatic’s life motto. He is a “learned” leader and with proper motivation, he will rise to the top, because of his outstanding ability to get with everyone and avoid conflict. Pooh is an example of the Phlegmatic in the Winnie the Pooh stories.

"Leadership is influence" - John maxwell

Everyone has leadership, more or less. Leadership can be used for good and evil. An example of abusing your leadership skills is hitler, he was an amazing speaker and leader, and he killed millions of people. An example of a good leader would be Abraham Lincoln, who ended slavery, George Washington, who led us in war and became the first president, and Jesus, who leads us to eternal life.

My personality

Ever imagine living in a big giant house, lots of money, barely having to work, people envying you? That's like a dream, a vision. I'm a visionary, I dream the wildest things and wish to have them. Sometimes I dream things that I wish would never happen! I live to reach my goals, if I don't get what I want I could throw the biggest tantrum, and no one wants to be around me when I have one. But other than that, I love being with people, I love working with others, talking with others, I can't stand being alone! If I'm not the center of attention, I get crazy jealous. I have to talk over people so I don't feel like someone who's just there. I'm so loud and random, the first word i would describe myself is outgoing. I like to run around, I'm crazy about water (maybe because I'm Aquarius,) I can't live without chocolate and my cats! If I'm not with other people I sleep, or text. I'm very boring unless I'm with someone I can be crazy around. I love animals and people, but sometimes I need to get a break. I love making people laugh. That is basically me and how I act! (:

Me(:

They're beautiful, they're colorful, they shine in the night and sparkle in the day. Many marvel at their beauty, but never touch. They're beauty outshines everything, and they attract the most amazing things to them, even though they are so small, it is important for their growth. People look in awe at them, but are wary of taking them away because they are scared of being hurt by them. But this isn't specifically on them, it's just a defense mechanism to protect its beauty, and its life. They are beautiful really, one of the most beautiful of its kind, crimson colors overflowing over the dark green stem. Roses, are the most beautiful flower I've ever seen. In many ways, I'm like the rose. I have a good personality, if someone just tries to go through all the hurt places, weak spots, and hard times. If they try hard enough, and don't give up on me, they will see what I'm really like and value who i am. Like the rose, i dislike the cold, love the sun, adore water, and fear things sought out to get me. The rose has stems strong to keep them steady, just like my legs, who carry me all around the world, but never fail to work for me. The rose has thorns, just like my attitude, I only use it with some people, but its so I don't get hurt. The rose has delicate crimson petals, I have delicate parts of my personality, I don't open up often, and definitely not with people. I have a personality that hardly anyone knows, but when you find out who I am, you'll be glad you did. I act pretty wild, but I can be down to earth. I act different around different people, it's how I perceive you. Like the rose, I stare at the sky and think about how life is, how it will be, and how it was. In many ways I'm like the rose, in many ways I'm not like the rose. But its how I was made and I'm not ashamed of it. I'm insecure, but on the inside I'm glad I am who i am and no one can change me. Only I can change myself for the better.
